Working woman

This last week I got a job! I wasn't really planning on it, but who couldn't use a little extra money? I'm only working 1-2 nights a week, and they're nights that Bryan is home so we don't have to find a babysitter. I'm waitressing once again, this time at a restaurant called Ole Toro. (Translation: Yay bull!) I'm working there with my friend Kristen, and she got to be the one to train me on Friday night. For the first couple hours, I just followed Kristen around, trying to learn everything as fast as I could.

After a couple hours, we got super busy and so I started taking a few of my own tables. My second table that I took by myself was someone I recognized! Before I had Weston, I worked at McDonalds for a year, and got to know the regulars quite well. This guy at my table was one of them, and not only did I remember him, he remembered me too! We got to talking, and it turns out that we have even more in common. He ALSO used to live in Minnesota. And not just any place in Minnesota, CRYSTAL. The place I lived for 14 years of my life. What a small world!

After not working for over a year, you can imagine how ridiculously out of shape I am. I didn't really notice it during my shift, but after it was over, I HURT. Not a little sore, a LOT sore.

Bryan's weekend project was tearing out our back patio. It was made of old rotting wood, and desperately needs to be replaced before we let Weston play out back this summer. We looked into getting a wood deck, but that would cost 5 times as much, so we're going with a cement patio. Anyway, Bryan got all that wood pulled up and found that the ground was covered in river rocks. We spent a lot of our day on Saturday getting all the rocks out and moved to the side of our house. (Free rocks! We were going to have to fill that non-flower bed with rocks anyway, so this worked out!) Remember how I don't do man work, and how I was already sore? Yeah, this definitely helped. I was so glad I wasn't working Saturday night.

Weston is walking all over the place now. I can't belive how fast he's growing up. Why doesn't he listen when I tell him to slow down?! We love him so much and are so thankful for his happy little spirit in our home.

Our last bit of news is that Bryan's car might be dead. We're still waiting to hear from the shop, but since his car is the only one there, and it's been there for... 4 hours? Probably not a good sign. It just wouldn't start yesterday, or even start to start. The money I'm making now might have to buy Bryan a new car! Please pray for the turd herder everyone! (Bryan named the car, not me.)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY WESTON!

On Saturday we had Weston's birthday party! He had lots of fun, and so did we. Pictures!

This is the cake for everyone. It's actually a bunch of cupcakes, and it was DELICIOUS! (Best of all, no cutting pieces!)

Weston's cake before the destruction

Weston wasn't so sure about the party hats

But adorable little Ben didn't mind as long as he could chew on a balloon string!

Presents!
Ben was helping with the tissue paper. :)
Warning: The following is a result of a mother who can't control herself and just post 1 or2 cake destruction pictures.

Needless to say, a trip straight to the bath tub was in order.

Thank you to all who could come, and to all our family and friends for the love and birthday wishes! We love you all!

Sewing again!

Since last fall I have very much enjoyed making lots of rag quilts. I haven't made any for a while, but now that a lot of our friends are having babies in the next two months, I've been sewing, sewing! So far I've only made boy blankets, but now I get to make some girl blankets, and it is SO much fun. Not to mention, I get to feel like a crafy crafterson.

Something went wrong...

I tried to change the picture at the top and it turned out HUGE. I tried re-uploading it with the "shrink to fit" option and it showed a little corner of the picture. I tried different pictures with the same result. Blog experts, please HELP!

For now, I have my adorable son up there, which I accomplished by uploading from the web instead of my computer.

My work is all play!

I've been looking to watch a child or two just to make a little extra cash, and it didn't take long before I found one! Actually, it was all thanks to my friend Karen. I had told her about wanting to make some money, and she happened to know someone at work looking for a new babysitter. Today was our first day having Hannah over, and she is such a cutie! She's a few months older than Weston, but was born 2 months premature, so she is tiny! She is so playful and cuddly, and her and Weston play together just great. In 7 1/2 hours, there was only 1 fight over a toy, AND both of them napped at the same time. Could life get any better? I think not.

In other news, Weston is walking like crazy! He still walks pretty slow, but he seems to have figured out that it's worth taking the time to learn, because it will be faster once he gets it down. I'm so proud of my big boy, but at the same time, I can't believe how fast the year has gone. It seems like just yesterday I was dying to not be pregnant anymore. This Saturday is his birthday party. I can't wait!

Today we got another nephew! Maxwell Scott Williams was born this morning, weighing in at a whopping 8 lbs (almost exactly!), and 21 inches long. Mommy and baby are doing well, and we love him already! Can't wait to meet the little guy this summer.

Our ward has a Broadway musical review coming up in May, and I get to teach the activity days girls one of my favorite songs. "You're Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile" from Annie! I'm super excited.

Bryan got a new calling in the ward! He's been teaching primary for almost 6 months, but was just moved into the Elders Quorum Presidency as the 1st Counselor. There's about 7 guys in the Elders Quorum in our ward, and most of them are in Young Men's so they just couldn't spare any elders to primary! Bryan is perfect for the job, and will contribute very well to the members of our ward.

That's about all our news. I'll post pictures from Weston's birthday party this weekend. Love to all!
